The ACT is scored on a scale of 1-36 for each section (English, Math, Reading, Science). The composite score is the average of these four section scores, rounded to the nearest whole number.
How long is the ACT?
The ACT takes approximately 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete without the optional writing section, or 3 hours and 35 minutes with the writing section.
When should I take the ACT?
Most students take the ACT for the first time in the spring of their junior year. This allows time for retaking the test in the fall of senior year if necessary.
